I leave for a business trip tomorrow so I went a bit overboard with my working out today. I got up at 5:00 to hit the gym early and pounded out 13 miles on the treadmill. I really wanted to get my long run in before the trip when I had a little company. Then hurried home and got the kids off to school and then instead of going into work went back to the gym to do the 9:30 am 360 Fit class. It was a fun workout. We did 10 dumbbell front squats (I did 25lbs in each hand), 5 laps around the basketball court, and 5 bear crawls - 3 rounds for time.
I had to take off my hat
during the bear crawls or I would run into people or things. So during the
last set my hat was tucked into the back of my capri's, my tank top
kept riding up showing off my amazing post-kid stretch marks and I was
crawling on the floor with my butt in the air. Needless to say, I
looked ridiculous and at one point said outloud "I have no pride left".
The girl who heard me say it was cracking up after class. I mean
really at 10:00 am at the gym it's the cute girls with make-up on not
the crazy girls like me - I really am more of a 6:00 am workout kinda
gal when I can look horrible and not worry about anyone seeing me.
This picture is from an earlier class - not today's embarrassing moment - but it also contains an embarrassing picture. Obviously I shouldn't wear a skirt to crossfit on a day we do burpees.....ugh!!

Positive vs. Negative Thoughts
Today's workout: 8 miles on the treadmill and 360 fit.
For some reason I went all crazy in the head today during my 360 workout. Maybe it was because it's Monday morning or because I'm crazy I don't know why but today I was so negative.
I ran 4.5 miles before crossfit then during the WOD (which was an 18 minute AMRAP) I was so upset with myself for not being able to do more. I couldn't be positive no matter what I tried.
We did toes-to-bar and today was the first day I've ever actually gotten my toes to the bar. I should be so excited about that but instead since I only got 50% of them I was mad at myself.
As soon as the workout was done I jumped back on the treadmill to finish off my run and I knew I was being too hard on myself but I couldn't stop. So this morning when I saw this quote it hit home reminding me of the benefits of positive thoughts. So here's to positive thinking and moving forward!

Pink Emissary
I feel so honored to have been chosen to represent The Pink Series this year as an emissary for them. I love their races and all things pink and especially girls running. Today on studio 5 they did a segment called "Why Run?" There are some awesome gals featured .... and I got to be part of it!! I'd like to say that some of the things said about me are quite exaggerated - my kids are far from perfect and my house is a bit messy right now :)
Today's workout: 5 miles on the treadmill & 360 Fit
Tomorrow's plan: 10 miles (sadly with the snow and cold it will have to be on the treadmill)

Today's Workout: tempo run and crossfit
Today's workout was an 8 mile tempo run - 5 miles at 7:45 pace. I got up early did a half mile warm up then ran my 5 tempo miles and another half mile before my 360 fit class. Then finished off my run with 2 more miles after crossfit. It's been ages since I've done a tempo run and it was pretty tough at first. But once I got my rhythm going and my music turned up high I was good to go.
360 fit WOD: 6 one-arm hanging press (each arm), 20 dumb-bell lunges, 6 Turkish get-ups. 5 rounds for time. It was a tough WOD especially right after a tempo run. This whole double workout business better make me stronger and skinnier!

My 2013 Fitness Goals
My 2013 Fitness Goals:
- Complete a half-ironman
- Run 1000 miles
- Do 2 unassisted pull-ups
That's it - just 3 goals. These should take up most of the year though. I am also going to do lots of races. I'm already signed up for the Boston Marathon, 2 half-marathons, Ragnar and a 5K.
Today started my official Boston training. So now no more excuses when I'm tired I have to get myself ready. Today's workout was a 9 mile run. Sadly it was 3 degrees when I woke up so I had to do it on the treadmill. I sure hope it warms up soon!

Ring in 2013
2012 was a great year for me. My goal was to run 1200 miles - I ran 1670.5 miles. I ran 2 marathons, qualified for Boston, and ran Ragnar. 10 out of 12 months I ran over 100 miles and the 2 other months it was high 90's. My was my highest mileage month with 175.8 miles and June was my lowest at 93.95 miles. I love running more now than I ever have in my life. It is peaceful and I love it.
Running in Cali - Dec 27th
New Year's Day at 7:45 am - not a soul on the treadmills
To ring in the new year I decided to do 13 miles for 2013
I didn't love running 13 on the treadmill but it was -2 degrees out this morning so it was my only option.
